Review: Above World by Jenn Reese

Attention: Beegirls Books is getting a makeover! From now on we’re going to post book reviews as well as book lists. If you are new, scroll to the first and second posts for the lowdown on this blog.

It’s far into the future. The world is crawling with humans in every square inch of space. The Earth is no longer suitable for dwellings.  Major companies- such as HydroTek and SkyTek, proposed a solution of physically altering humans so they could live in other places- oceans, sandy deserts, high in the clouds. They were modified so the mermaid Kampii could have tails, Aviars, wings, Equians, hooves. Meks and Upgraders, humans with parts replaced with, frankly, whatever they chose, and Deepfell, shark and dolphin fins. Peace is restored, and over many years, those small colonies grow into whole new races of beings.  until HydroTek starts shutting down Kampii’s breathing devices. Kampii have died, and young Kampii Aluna is determined to stop it. Aluna and friend Hoku travel through the enemy-filled Above World and embark on a whole new adventure to save their people. Science Fiction. Jenn Reese.
