Circle of Secrets was an okay book in my opinion. I felt like it was longer than it needed to be because there were a lot of boring, stretched-out parts that I ended up skimming.
Circle of Secrets was about a girl named Shelby whose mother has abandoned her and her father. It was really peculiar because Shelby randomly goes off to live with her mother, whom she hasn’t seen in a year. She just waltzes in and is like “Hey mom,” like they see each other all the time. And I was like “Wut wut”
There’s also a lot of mysteries going on. For example, why are there spots of blood on the dock? Who keeps leaving notes in the blue bottle tree? Why do Shelby and her new friend Gwen have matching bracelets? And… is Gwen a ghost?
I liked the mystery part of the book, and I think the author’s mistake was focusing too much on friendship drama and mean girls. I would’ve liked for the author to have more of the book about the mysteries.
But overall, the book was worth reading, and I would recommend it XD
If you liked this book, there’s another book by this author called The Healing Spell. It seems very similar to Circle of Secrets, though.
